SCRT SS20. The Wicker Man
Clothing Collaboration
SCRT is a clothing company producing short runs of exclusive print-wear. The brand draws influences from subcultures both past & present, whilst producing cut & sew collections focused on vintage-inspired workwear, with function and everyday use in mind.
SCRT commissioned me to produce an artwork based on the 1973 cult film ‘The Wicker Man’ that could be screen-printed onto t-shirts in two different colour waves. ‘The Wicker Man’ is a British folk horror film directed by Robin Hardy starring Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland, Diane Cilento, Ingrid Pitt, and Christopher Lee. he screenplay by Anthony Shaffer, inspired by David Pinner's 1967 novel Ritual, centres on the visit of Police Sergeant Neil Howie to the isolated Scottish island of Summerisle in search of a missing girl. Howie, a devout Christian, is appalled to find that the inhabitants of the island have abandoned Christianity and now practice a form of Celtic paganism.
A journal piece was written about our collaboration, which you can find on the SCRT website.
