SCRT is a clothing company producing short runs of exclusive print-wear. The brand draws influences from subcultures both past & present, whilst producing cut & sew collections focused on vintage-inspired workwear, with function and everyday use in mind.
Our second collaboration, SCRT commissioned me to bring forward a clothing capsule idea drawing on the themes and subjects I advocate for as an artist. I regularly produce work that draws from folkloric stories and traditions, and the classic story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight was one I thought would be great to explore and bring awareness too. On the surface, the poem appears to be the archetypal story of knightly virtues, but beneath the veil is rife with ethical conundrums and questions that I think are as relevant today as when the poem was written in the 14th century.
The project has evolved into a clothing collection and a limited release of some one-off screen-prints I created with artworks produced for the capsule. The project was released as part of the AW22 collection.
A journal piece was written about our collaboration, which you can find on the SCRT website.
